SHIFT:   7:30 am to 4:00 pm


Operates electronic data processing equipment according to established written procedures and schedules and as directed by Operations management.

Detailed Description
  • Monitor and support data center operations computer systems and environmental conditions utilizing specialized monitoring tools such as HP Openview, BSM, Sitescan and others
  • Supports the printing, decollating, and distribution of reports using InfoPrint 4100 printers in the enterprise print operations shop
  • Monitors and support computer room environmental infrastructure, i.e., UPS, stand-alone air handlers, cooling towers, emergency generators, batteries, temperature and humidity
  • Manage and support all physical tape management activities including the daily transfer of tapes from and to the offsite storage vendor and the support of the IBM TS3500 tape library
  • Monitor and support all system backups and ensure that they are completed in a timely fashion
    Monitors printer supply stock such as toner, dry ink, ribbons, filters, forms inventory, collector bags, etc., for Inventory Control
  • Provides backup support as required to cover vacations, holidays and sick times
  • Updates and delivers shift summary to management as required at end of shift outlining events and activities
  • Develops and maintains work area procedures, checklists and records
  • Works overtime, shift hours, and/or weekends as required
  • Completes other tasks as may be assigned by Department Management
  • Provides input to the daily online turnover by attending daily turnover meetings as required
  • Assist technical teams as required to pull fiber or copper cables or install or deinstall hardware


Job Requirements

Requires a good understanding of data operations practices and procedures of either mainframe or mid-tier systems with the ability to interpret or extract information. Problems may be routine to moderately complex using requiring the analysis and interpretation of available information. Problem solving requires "common sense" to interpret and carry out instructions. Guidance is received in the form of general direction from supervisor or written procedures and policies.

  • High school diploma required. Formal technical training, currently attending college, or college degree desirable.
  • 1-3 years data processing experience required and/or degree in computer related field from accredited school.
  • Working knowledge of  Unix (HP and/or Solaris), MVS and WIN-Server operating systems required
  • Basic understanding of Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) helpful but not required
  • Possess working knowledge of data center infrastructure equipment (i.e. UPS, HVAC, Generators, etc.)
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Possess problem solving skills
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
  • Displays troubleshooting and problem management capabilities.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted, using correct lifting techniques
  • Ability to lift data center floor tiles and perform functions such as pulling cables, making observations of under floor conditions and assessing airflow conditions in raised floor area
